Values form for us a way of life, a set of guidelines that help us live out our beliefs and achieve our mission. They answer the question: "What do we stand for?"

Convictions about what should be

It's vital to note that our values are not just a majority vote on certain moral or doctrinal views. Our values are born out of our convictions about how we should live according to God’s Word. They are a set of representations of God’s character and person. God is altogether good, unconditionally loving and completely just. He is holy, pure and glorious – absolutely inspirational in every possible way.

So in actual fact, it's the character of God himself that determines our values as a church. Since we are His children, we value who He is and want to be like Him. The person and character of God inspires us in what we hold to and wish to become.

In an ever-changing world, we need sound values that guide us. Collin & Porras’ book, “Built to Last” states; “contrary to popular wisdom, the proper first response to a changing world is not to ask, ‘How should we change?’ but rather to ask, ‘What do we stand for and why do we exist?’” In other words, what are our values and what is our vision?

Our values consist of three theological core beliefs about God and include seven values or aspects of his character. We also value our spiritual heritage – five fundamental truths which God built into the foundations of our church. Finally, our theology is summarized in our Faith Statement.
