Disciplemaker is our practical strategy to achieve our mission: inspiring people for influence.
To achieve any goal you need a strategy. Disciplemaker is the name we give to our methodology for completing the Great Commission.
People
Disciplemaking is the process of growing people in God. In the end, it is people that matter to God. (Not plans, programmes or performances). Ultimately God's intention is for all people everywhere to know him. In fact, Jesus said that eternal life is to "know God" (John 17:3).
The church consists of people whom God "knows". They have become part of God's big family through faith. Every family has members of different ages and phases of life – all learning, growing and contributing to each other's lives. In essence all discipling each other (Ephesians 4:16).
Four environments
Every family needs a home in which to live. A home has different types of rooms with specific functions that benefit the family. For example, a kitchen is for preparing food whereas the lounge is for relaxing. At Gateway, our church "household" presently consists of four distinctive rooms – each environment with a clear function and emphasis.
Gateway Sundays: our "dining room", where we gather for inspiring weekly input and worship for the whole family. Gateway Life: our "lounge", where we meet in smaller groups in various locations during the week. Gateway Equip: our "study", where our core courses and leadership training series are taught. Gateway Events: our "backyard", where we invite our local community and friends to spend time together.
